LED Light Therapy
Heal, Restore and Energise Your Skin—Naturally
At Self Aesthetics, we offer LED Light Therapy to enhance your skin’s health at a cellular level. Safe, non-invasive and backed by decades of clinical research, LED phototherapy uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular repair, reduce inflammation and enhance overall skin health. It is generally well-tolerated, with many people experiencing little to no downtime, although mild temporary redness or warmth can occur.
A consultation will help determine the most appropriate wavelength and treatment plan for your skin concerns.
The Science Behind LED Light Therapy
Originally developed by NASA to support wound healing and tissue repair in astronauts, LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy has since become a trusted tool in clinical dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Unlike lasers or IPL, LED light does not damage the skin or rely on heat. Instead, it uses photobiomodulation—the process of using light energy to trigger cellular responses.
When light wavelengths penetrate the skin, mitochondria in your skin cells absorb the light and convert it into ATP (cellular energy). This fuels collagen synthesis, speeds up skin renewal, reduces oxidative stress, and calms inflammation. Think of it as giving your skin cells a boost of energy to function at their best.
How It Works: Targeted Wavelengths for Specific Results
Each colour of LED light has a different wavelength and targets a specific depth within the skin. At Self Aesthetics, we use a full spectrum of clinically proven wavelengths to address a wide range of skin concerns:
Red Light – 630 to 660 nm
Penetrates into the dermis to stimulate fibroblast activity, which increases collagen and elastin production. Ideal for:
Ageing skin
Fine lines and wrinkles
Loss of firmness and elasticity
Post-procedure healing
Near Infrared Light – 800 to 900+ nm
Reaches the deepest layers of skin to support:
Wound and scar healing
Muscle relaxation and cellular repair
Enhanced blood circulation
Post-procedure recovery
LED After Non-Surgical Procedures
LED therapy is a perfect companion to treatments such as microneedling, PRP, PRF, Rejuran, chemical peels, or injectables. By promoting rapid cellular repair and reducing inflammation, LED can:
Shorten downtime
Minimise redness, bruising and swelling
Accelerate healing
Boost treatment results
It’s a calming, restorative treatment that your skin will thank you for—especially after more intensive procedures.
Who Can Benefit from LED Light Therapy?
LED is suitable for all skin types and tones, including sensitive skin, teens with acne, and mature skin showing signs of ageing. It is gentle, completely painless, and has little to no downtime, making it an excellent maintenance treatment or add-on to your customised skin plan.
Common skin conditions treated include:
Acne and breakouts
Fine lines and wrinkles
Redness and rosacea
Pigmentation and uneven tone
Post-procedure inflammation
Dull, fatigued skin
Dehydrated or sluggish skin
Sun damage
Wound healing and scar repair
What to Expect During Your LED Session
Your treatment begins with a cleanse and is followed by 10–20 minutes under the LED light canopy. You’ll wear protective goggles while relaxing as the light works its magic. There’s no pain, no heat, and little to no recovery time —just glowing skin that continues to improve over the following days.
Most clients notice a visible glow after just one session, while cumulative results are best achieved through a series of treatments, especially when addressing specific skin concerns.
Illuminate Your Skin from Within
Whether you’re looking to support your skin between treatments or boost the healing process after a procedure, LED light therapy is a scientifically proven, results-driven solution. At Self Aesthetics, we incorporate LED into many of our skin plans because of its profound ability to rejuvenate, restore, and maintain skin health—naturally.
